High School Physical Education, Health, & Driver's Education

Physical Education 8

PE 8 is a course designed to help students understand their fitness level as well as their ability to perform cooperatively in group/team settings.  This class also contains a health component that covers the body's systems, skill components, physical fitness, nutrition, at-risk behaviors (substance abuse, alcohol), and sexually transmitted diseases.

 

Physical Education 9 & Health

This course is a continuation of development skills in flag football, volleyball, softball, and track and field.  Health is offered in conjunction with Physical Education 9.  It includes instruction on nutrition/diet, first aid, and safety education.

 

Physical Education 10 & Driver's Education

This course is a continuation of all 9th-grade activities, emphasizing finer techniques and skills.  Driver's Education and Traffic Safety are offered in conjunction with Physical Education 10.  This includes the classroom portion.  The classroom phase attempts to meet the objectives of developing both a responsible and competent driver.

 

Personal Wellness & Nutrition

This course prepares students with knowledge and skills to lead an active, healthy lifestyle now and throughout their lifespan. This course aims to acquire knowledge of physical fitness concepts, understand the influence of lifestyle on health and fitness, and develop an optimal fitness level. Students will better develop their cardiovascular system, muscular structure, and overall agility through weight training and plyometrics. Additionally, students will explore a variety of physical activity modalities to help them discover their active lifestyle preferences. Also, this upper-level course will include various topics related to personal health, including nutrition, to better prepare students for optimal health throughout their lifetime.

 

Weight Training

Strength and Conditioning will enable students to better develop their cardiovascular system, muscular structure, and overall agility through weight training and plyometrics.

Elementary Physical Education

Each grade level participates in a weekly physical education exploratory that aligns with the SOLs for that grade.
